Off to our final accommodation. Are you still with me? I hope so. Do you need a bathroom break? Well then go for it. Get some popcorn, some water, a snack… whatever you need. Just get it and come back quick so I can continue with my story. Are you comfortable now? Well, here we go…
Ayama Villa is a beautiful home on the island with a private beach and a wood-themed interior. The decor is absolutely amazing! It boasts a master bedroom with a jacuzzi in-house and a luxurious sitting area, a fully furnished fridge with fruits, beverages, wine, breakfast items, a complete chef kitchen with top of the line cookware, an infinity pool with views of the beach, an outdoor living space for dining complete with a pizza oven, and a hammock in a corner to lay back and take in the golden sunsets.
At night, the recessed lighting in the pool and beneath the stairs gave the house an extra layer of luxury and a cozy glow that made us feel at home. The furniture was custom to the home, and the beautiful big stones in the wall made us feel at one with nature. The huge french doors off the main house opened directly to the pool and the floating canopies over the water allowed us to soak in the sun while the kids played in the water. At night, the indoor fireplace brought the extra warmth we needed to overcome the cold from being soaked all day, and the brisk wind from being so close to the sea. We enjoyed staying at the villa; breakfast on the outdoor porch, taking videos in the jacuzzi, huge dives into the pool and enjoying each other’s company at night. Most of all, we really enjoyed our privacy and being together.
Our trip allowed us to be here for two more days, and on our final night, we each had a bittersweet feeling knowing that the vacation was almost over. I especially had a knot in my belly, because I knew what was waiting for me once I returned home to North Carolina and I knew it would be no easy feat. I wished the vacation would not end, not just because of the fun I was having, but because of my fear of the unknown once I returned. Being at the villa really got me in a pensive mood, to reflect and think of my future.
What exactly am I afraid of? You’ll find out soon.
We made a stop in France where I spent a night to rest, play with the kids especially my Goddaughter Ariana, and eat lots of crepes and delicious freshly baked French bread and chocolate spread. They call it French for a reason 😊 After our final goodbyes, I caught a train and headed to the busy Charles De Gaulle airport where I boarded my flight home for Greensboro. Goodbye (for now) Santorini and goodbye Paris. I slept all through my flight but finally, I was almost home. Now fasten your seatbelts as I am finally about to land, literally and figuratively.
