Fighting Cancer Cells One Tumor At A Time

Hello chemo, goodbye hair

January 1, 2020 by Mabih 32 Comments

Remember how I told you the hair loss accelerated in a short amount of time? Well, I went to bed one morning, and when I got up to go to my appointment, there was hair all over my pillow.

Not only that, my head looked like rodents had played in it… there were patches everywhere. When I walked into his office, the doctor had this look on his face like, “I told you so!”

But I didn’t care, and neither did he. He relaxed when he saw the smile on my face and the peace in my heart. “You’re going to do well with that state of mind. It starts with the mind. You’re taking this very well. I’m proud of you.”
I would have given my doctor a hug for that comment, but that would probably have been weird. lol. After the appointment, my cousin took me home. But first, I took some pictures with the Christmas tree at the cancer center.

Because it really looked bad, my cousin decided to use clippers to take off the rest of it. It was falling off anyway. We just wanted some sense of normalcy at this point. It was time to really let go, so it was the bull zero look for me.

The last picture is my son and I on a video chat. He doesn’t fully understand that I’m sick and I try to break it to him as delicately as possible for a five-year-old. “Remember when you had the cough? Mommy has her own version of the cough.” Every time we chat, I make sure there’s a smile on my face. I mean, what’s there not to smile about? I’m alive! In this instance, he had a good laugh because I told him, “Mommy cut her hair so she could look like you.” He really liked that. But I can also tell he is going to miss playing with it!

And with that said, I am going to share a video when I got some blood drawn for my labs. I couldn’t do it before because I wanted this post to debut my new look.

Goodbye Mabih 1.0!

And give a loud round of applause to Mabih 2.0! (Enjoy her while she’s around because she’s a limited edition!)

After labs were done, I was so happy the day was finally over, I cuddled up by the Christmas tree, again!

And that’s it. I know you can’t wait to see what happens next!

      Dear Gabby,
It’s not an easy journey, but we have to be brave. Just like other things in life, we have to keep moving forward. If God is for us, who can be against? 🥰
